Client – Interserve/NHS Carlisle Hospital
The Aseptic suite at Carlisle Hospital is a sterile, controlled environment for preparing specific injectable medicines including chemotherapy, and clinical trials. These medicines are to be distributed throughout the North of England. However as a result the Aseptic Suite could not be closed as the disruption and loss of production would be too great both clinically and financially. The Aseptic suite had a particular compartmentation problem which could only be resolved by working externally.
The solution involved the fire protection of steelwork, the introduction of insulation and to close off any potential pathways for smoke & fire in and around the entire suite.
